Citizens and businesses of the County of Bland can now sign up for the free CodeRED Emergency Warning System. CodeRED has provided the County of Bland with a general database, but citizens and businesses are encouraged to simply click on the link below to register and enter/update their information. It is recommended that all businesses register, as well as all individuals who have unlisted phone numbers, individuals and businesses who have changed their phone number or address within the past year, and those who use a cellular phone or a VOIP phone as their primary number. When registering, citizens/businesses need to make sure that after they have entered their address that the pin is located on their home or business. If it is not they will not receive specific alerts for that area. Those without internet access or those that have any questions may call Bland County's Department of Emergency Services at 688-4641 Monday-Friday, (8:30 a.m.- 5 p.m.) to supply their information over the phone.  

The CodeRED system and its services have been acquired through a regional Emergency Services grant project which involves the County of Bland. Upon signing up for this system citizens will have access to the CodeRED Weather Warning System that taps into the National Weather Service's Storm Based Warning System. This allows citizens to receive real time weather alerts that could impact their area. This is an opt-in only service. 

In addition, citizens will also have access to the CodeRED Emergency Warning System and will be able to receive general alerts if they so choose when registering. Examples of alerts citizens can expect: 

• Dangerous or missing persons 
• Fraud or scam alerts 
• Power outages, blackouts, water main breaks, boil water notices, and road closures 
• Schedule changes holiday hours and changes to county services 
• Wildfire, flood, and other weather related alerts 
• Shelter locations in the event of a severe weather incident.

STEP 1 – GO TO

STEP 2 – CREATE PROFILE
The fastest and easiest way is to sign in via SSO with your Google, Facebook, or X account. If using SSO, proceed to Step 3 after completing the sign-in process. OR Click REGISTER to set up a new profile. This will take you to Steps 2.1 & 2.2

STEP 2.1 – FILL IN YOUR DETAILS
Add your details on the Create an Account form.
Tick the privacy statement and the CAPTCHA boxes.
Click NEXT to continue (the button will turn blue when all fields are complete - all fields are mandatory).

STEP 2.2 – ENTER VERIFICATION CODE
Select your Preferred Contact Method to receive the verification code (this is not for receiving Alerts – just the code).
Enter the code you received and click NEXT.

STEP 3 – ADD YOUR ALERT PREFERENCES AND LOCATION
Follow the instructions to complete sections, A, B, and C, and then hit SAVE to finalize your enrollment.

A — DEVICE DETAILS

• Click Add Device
• Select the Device Type; choose between SMS, Voice, and Email and add the respective details required to receive Alerts by that method.
• If you would like to limit who can see your contact details in CodeRED, turn the Privacy switch on.
• Click ADD to save the entry.
• You will see it appear on your main dashboard.
• Repeat the process to add other delivery methods and/or other devices.

B — LOCATION DETAILS

• Click Add ADDRESS
• Use the map to find your location or use the Add Location dropdown on the top-left to open a search box and type in your address (If the pin is not exactly on your location, you can move it manually for precise positioning).
• – Click ADD to save the entry.
• – Repeat the process to add other locations.

C — GROUPS
These may show additional optional communications on offer in your locality.

• Select the respective boxes to receive those messages.

IMPORTANT: AFTER COMPLETING THE STEPS, CLICK SAVE TO FINALIZE YOUR REGISTRATION.

ONCE YOU HAVE CLICKED SAVE, THE PROCESS IS COMPLETE. YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED BY YOUR SELECTED DELIVERY METHODS SHOULD ANY ALERTS BE ISSUED.
