The Bland County Board of Supervisors will, on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 5:00 P.M., or as soon thereafter as it may be heard, in the main Courtroom of the Bland County Courthouse; Bland, Virginia, conduct a public hearing to receive public comment on amending Fiscal Year 2022/2023 (FY23) and 2023/2024 (FY24) School Board Budget.

The proposed amendments to the FY23 budgets are to amend budgeted federal, state, and grant revenues received by the Bland County Public School Board with a reduction of $756,236.32 (Increase Instruction $81,964.94, Increase Administration $12,548.16, Increase Transportation $4,022.36, Decrease Operations & Maintenance $903,653.76, Decrease School Food Services $9,453.91, and Increase Technology by $58,295.91).  

The proposed amendments to the FY24 budget are to amend and appropriate unbudgeted federal, state, and grant revenues received by the Bland County Public School Board in the amount of $2,497,609 (Instruction $1,188,416.00, Administration $116,934.00, Transportation $100,089.00, Operations & Maintenance $998,834.00, School Food Services $89,991.00, Technology $3,345.00).  Additionally, $1,047,693.81 (Construction) will be carried over to FY24 per State Requirements. 

Since this amount exceeds 1% of the overall County Budget, a public hearing is required pursuant to Code of Virginia, § 15.2-2507.
