In response to the progression of Coronavirus (COVID-19) preparations, Bland County has declared a local emergency on March 19, 2020. Bland County officials want to inform, that at the time, there are no reported cases of COVID-19 in Bland County.
County officials continue to monitor the everchanging COVID-19 emergency event, while maintaining communication with state health and emergency agencies. The declaration of a local emergency permits local officials to potentially access state and federal resources as they are made available. County officials also inform citizens to continue to follow federal and state advisements associated with social distancing and extra hygiene precautions. While County departments are operational, access to public buildings and departments has been modified. To inform residents of any local government operational modifications or schedule changes, county officials have launched a COVID-19 Local Government webpage at www.blandcountyva.gov. If in person services are needed, it is requested that residents call that department prior to visiting, as it may be possible to provide answers to questions over the phone.
County officials continue to advise everyone to keep up with information on COVID-19 by visiting Centers for Disease Control (CDC) https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html and Virginia Department of Health (VDH) http://www.vdh.virginia.gov/ and take the appropriate measures to reduce potential exposure. For questions related to Coronavirus, the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) has set up a hotline 877-ASK-VDH3. Please use this number for coronavirus related questions.
