Recently, there have been several Federal and State advisements and closures due to the Corona Virus, COVID-19. To inform citizens of any local government operational modifications or schedule changes, county officials have launched a COVID-19 Local Government webpage at www.blandcountyva.gov. This site will be where any news releases or modifications associated with Bland County government operations will be located.
On March 16, 2020, the Supreme Court of Virginia entered an order restricting access to all courthouses in Virginia, including Bland County. A list of those restrictions is listed on the COVID-19 webpage at www.blandcountyva.gov. While access is restricted, County offices are still operational. Citizens are asked to call the individual offices prior to visiting the courthouse because a lot of tasks can be done over the phone. In addition, citizens are reminded that there is a secure box located in the back entrance of the courthouse, on Jackson Street, where payments and other documents may be placed to be distributed to the various courthouse departments for citizens that do not want to enter the building.
County officials continue to advise everyone to keep up with information on COVID-19 by visiting Centers for Disease Control (CDC) https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html and Virginia Department of Health (VDH) http://www.vdh.virginia.gov/ and take the appropriate measures to reduce potential exposure. For questions related to Coronavirus, the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) has set up a hotline 877-ASK-VDH3. Please use this number for coronavirus related questions.
