Public Hearing - Proposed Transient Occupancy Tax Ordinance

The Bland County Board of Supervisors will, on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 5:00 P.M., or as soon thereafter as it may be heard, in the main Courtroom of the Bland County Courthouse; Bland, Virginia, conduct a public hearing to receive public comment on amending Article IX – Transient Occupancy of the Ordinances of the County of Bland. WHEREAS,Section 58.1-3819 of the Code of Virginia, which enabled localities to levy a transient occupancy tax, was significantly revised by action of the Virginia General Assembly in 2021 to provide for collection of the tax when accommodations are booked through an intermediary and modifications are needed to conform Bland County ordinance with the new Code of Virginia.

Copies of the proposed ordinance(s) are available for public inspection at the Bland County Courthouse posted on the bulletin boards and available at the offices of the Commissioner of the Revenue and County Administration located at Bland County Courthouse, 612 Main Street in Bland, Virginia, during normal business hours.
