WOLF CREEK INDIAN VILLAGE & MUSEUM TO HONOR 20TH YEAR WITH A REUNION CELEBRATION

Bastian—Wolf Creek Indian Village will host a 20th Reunion Celebration on Saturday, September 17, 2016. This event will be to celebrate the opening of Wolf Creek Indian Village & Museum in May of 1996. To honor all of the hard work of many people who have been involved in the success and history of the Museum, Wolf Creek would like to invite all past and present employees and volunteers; Bland County Historical Society, Board of Supervisors, and EDA members; and anyone else who has a special relationship with the museum to take part in this historic celebration at Wolf Creek.

The event will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a small ceremony at noon. Light refreshments and door prizes will be available. Special displays will be set up showing the historical progression and changes of the Museum over the past 20 years, and a video presentation will be available in the museum for guests to view.

John Dodson with the Mountain Home Center and local Bland County High School students will be available to interview any participant who would like to share their experiences regarding Wolf Creek Indian Village. These oral interviews will be added to the Bland County History Archive’s collection, as well as the archives at Wolf Creek to preserve the history of this unique place. Anyone interested in taking part in the interviews are encouraged to call the museum to be added to the list of interviewees for that day.

Reunion participants are also encouraged to bring any old photos that they have of the village or their time at the village. A person will be on hand to scan these photos, so they can be added to the museum’s archives. All photos will be returned that day.

In appreciation for all the support provided by Bland County and its residents, Wolf Creek will be offering FREE Admission all day to all Bland County residents who present a proof of residency. Admission includes the indoor conventional museum and a tour of the village. Tours will be available from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with the Museum and Gift Shop closing at 5 p.m. For more information about this event or Wolf Creek Indian Village & Museum, please call (276) 688-3438 or visit our website www.indianvillage.org.
