~ EDA Honors Two Bland County Businesses for their Achievements in 2017 ~
 
(The County of Bland, Virginia) – The Bland County Economic Development Authority presented their two (2) most prestigious awards to Wolf Creek Golf Course and Melvin Enterprises, Inc. on Thursday, November 2nd, at the Wytheville Meeting Center, during the Wytheville-Wythe-Bland Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner meeting.
 
“Wolf Creek Golf Course has been an asset to the County of Bland, not only in their value as a successful member of our business community, but as a contributor to so many community service related activities and programs”, stated David Dillow, Chairman - Bland County EDA.  Karen Dennis and her husband Daryl were honored with the Economic Development Authority’s 2017 Business & Industry Community Impact Award.
 
The EDA’s top honor went to Melvin Enterprises, Inc., a company whose portfolio of services is diversified into several industry sectors. “What started as a small entrepreneur operation many years ago has grown into a beacon of success and is now one of the largest employers in our region. Thus, the EDA chose Melvin Enterprises, Inc., and its owner John D. Melvin, as the Economic Development Authority’s 2017 Business & Industry of the Year,” stated David Dillow, Chairman, EDA. 
 
Last year’s winners were Grant’s Supermarket – Economic Development Authority’s 2016 Business & Industry Community Impact Award; and Dollar General – Economic Development Authority’s 2016 Business & Industry of the Year Award.  “We want to thank and congratulate this year’s winners but, also recognize the exceptional job that all of our businesses and industries are doing to contribute to our world-class business environment”, concluded David Dillow.
